Renovating & Building

Buying, building or renovating?

We have lenders to suit your individual needs, from purchasing an existing home to a knock-down rebuild or that long-planned renovation.

Renovation and construction finance releases money for your project, through a top-up, refinance or staged construction loan. SCF Brokerage guides you through the lending options so the budget is sorted before the first trade arrives.

Three paths, one guide.

Purchasing an existing dwelling

Free-standing home, duplex, apartment or granny flat, finance for the home that's already there.

Knock-down rebuild / new build

Love your street but not your house? Have vacant land? Staged construction lending built for the build.

Renovation

An extension, a small reno, an indoor or outdoor project, we guide you through your lending options.

Home renovations checklist

Before you sign with a builder.

  • Always use licensed, qualified tradespeople, compliant with council requirements and insured
  • Ask family and friends who've renovated about lessons and tips they'd share
  • Research styles, colours and finishes you love that fit the budget
  • Quality inclusions are great, but plan selections against your budget ahead of time
  • All work should meet standards and carry a builder warranty; re-check contracts before paying any deposit

FAQs

Renovating questions, answered.

Can I use my home's equity to renovate?
Usually yes, the equity you've built can often fund an extension or renovation through a loan top-up, a refinance or a construction loan. The right structure depends on the project size and your circumstances, we'll walk you through the options.
What's different about construction loans?
Construction loans release funds in stages as the build progresses, and you generally pay interest only on what's been drawn down. They suit knock-down rebuilds and new builds on vacant land.
